Happy Friday: Keep It Moving

Happy, happy, happy Friday, ladies! April never looked so good. I’m really enjoying Spring right now. Hope you are too.

Well, I’ve been finding my momentum and kicking up a little speed. Enough speed to keep up everything I got going on and finding a nice balance to it. Managing my time better, particularly. And as easy as it sounds, it’s not. I mean, in a perfect world, it would be.

But things happen. I leave work late. Traffic through downtown is always hot mess, especially anywhere near on an on-ramp. I’ll get a same day notary client I need to see. Email correspondences I’ve neglected from earlier in the day. Over the course of a few minutes, it feels like there’s always something coming up making it harder to get important projects completed.

So I schedule in myself. I schedule myself in my calendar like I was one of my freelance clients. I block off a few hours a week and only work on stuff for me during that block. And it helps. More than I thought it would. I don’t get everything done but I get the ball rolling and as long as the ball is moving, so am I. For the moment, that’s what I’m gonna do.

Keep it moving.

This Week’s Goal: Finishing Lesa’s Website

A former coworker and friend of mine is launching a candle making business on the side (the company I keep are side hustlers too, I’m all about that life). It’s called Lesa’s Candles, obviously named after her. She’s a crafty time of person. She knits scarves (I have one), she makes lotions and creams and also candles. It’s just something she likes to do. So, after having to take a medical leave of absence from her job, she decided she was going to throw as much of her time as she could physically afford into her candle making business until she healthy and able to go back to work.

And knowing that I know a little about a lot, she asked me for my assistance with her website, which I readily agreed to do. But it’s stalled. First it was her, now it’s me. And now that I have everything from her to get started, I need to get started and finish all in one breath. I need to help her make money as if I was working on this website for me.

So that’s my goal for this week. Work on my friend’s website so she too can generate extra income and build a supplemental income stream. As all us ladies should. Once I’m done, I’ll share the link with you and can give me your honest feedback. You can hold me to both the deadline and the link to share.

Honestly.

PTHS: Having an “On Call” Business

Yes, I like the idea of having a part time business that I control and generates income.

Yes, I like being able to control most of the fees in involved in my service (travel fee, rush service, etc.) The state of California dictates how much I can charge per notarization.

And yes, I like that I get the choose when I work… in theory…

See, I call myself a mobile/traveling notary which means I go to my clients when they need my services. Key word: “when“. So as much I may like the idea of controlling my hours, my hours are dependent on when my clients.

As single female who’s hustlin’, I can never forget that my business — or any business — is dependent on the client. No client, no business. Their time, my time. No matter I may be. No matter is I just woke up from what I was calling a nap before. I’m needed then serve.

No excuses.

But, it’s still my time.
